One of the recent vehicles we received for review purposes was the new 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD.
In the not too distant past, I owned a Hyundai Accent. It was a bare-bones kind of car. Base model with only an automatic transmission as one of its options. It was a good car – reliable and was my wife’s first vehicle after moving here from Brazil.
So I was expecting a simple vehicle when we received the Tucson. But the Tucson was much ore than simple!
The color was brilliant and the 19 inch wheels were attention getting and something I appreciate – they were easy to keep clean.
As soon as you sit down in the Tucson, you notice the panoramic sunroof and the comfortable seats. The Tucson is called a CUV for Crossover Utility Vehicle and it rides very nicely. It has a 7 speed dual clutch transmission which feels a little different when you first start driving, but you hardly notice it after driving for a bit.
It has a 1.6L Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine that puts out 175 horsepower @ 5500 rpms with 195 lb-ft of torque @1500-4500 rpms.
Check out my video for a quick once over of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson and I highlight some of my favorite features of the CUV:
The list price of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD we received for review is $32,320.
We live in America! And in America, bigger is almost always better. So I was pretty excited when the 2016 Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve showed up in our driveway.
The Nissan Titan XD is BIG – just check out the truck front-to-rear with my 2001 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4X4 SLT.
It has everything a truck lover like me would ever want. (And apparently, what a woman would want as well!) And just what is it that a trucker would like about this vehicle?
Well, check out my video review below:
The truck has a Cummins 5.0 Liter V8 Dual Stage Turbo Diesel engine and a Bosch HPCR fuel system. The engine is compacted graphite iron and generates 310 HP @ 3200 rpm and 555 lb-ft of torque @1600 rpm. As you can see … lots of power!
It has over 2,000 lb payload with over 12,000 lb towing capacity.
I haven’t been in a diesel vehicle for a number of years, but my memories of them are of loud knocking diesel engines. They just don’t run as quietly as gasoline engines. Diesel engines have historically been lower powered than gasoline engines.
But after driving this for a week, I’m sold! The engine is very quiet for a diesel and it really had great pickup – more than I thought was possible from a diesel.
The price on the truck was not finalized on the paperwork we received as it was a brand new model. But you can expect to pay around $60,000 for it.
So if you haven’t driven a diesel truck lately, I highly recommend the 2016 Nissan Titan XD AWD Platinum Reserve!
I’m 100% certain that if you like trucks, you’re going to love this one. 🙂
What’s a Kia K900? You say you’ve never heard of it? Well neither had I until one arrived at our house for a review!
The K900 is Kia’s top of the line luxury car. It has a 5.0L V8 gasoline engine which produces 420 hp and has an 8 speed automatic transmission. Step on the gas and this car moves! What have I driven that would allow me to say that this is a fast car? I owned a 1990 Corvette Coupe that had a six speed manual transmission with a 350 ci V8. It produced 250 hp! So trust me when I say this is a fast car. 🙂
Along with that speed comes some really nice options. Watch my video below for my walk through and high lights of the options on the vehicle.
I showed the car to some friends of mine, one of which owned a Kia SUV. They all were very impressed with the car and the Kia owner was ready to trade me!
I liked the car quite a lot and was sad to see it go. The list price of the vehicle is $66,400, which puts it in a class comparable to the Mercedes E Class and the BMW 5 Series. Until it becomes more well known, Kia may have a hard time selling enough of these to make it profitable for them. But I’d recommend that you take one of these out for a test drive if you’re in the market for a higher end luxury sedan. I’m fairly certain that you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the quality as well as the performance and drive-ability of this vehicle.

We had the pleasure of driving a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWD 4 door SUV for a week. It was provided for my wife to view a review on it and since I got to experience the vehicle, I’m sharing my thoughts of the vehicle with you!
The Outlander had a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine which produced 148 HP @ 6000 RPM. Now I know that this doesn’t sound like a high performance vehicle’s stats, but it actually drove nicely and had enough pickup that I wasn’t afraid to pull out onto the highway. There is a larger 2.4 liter engine available on 2 other Outlander Sport models which produces 168 HP @ 6000 RPM if you’re needing just a little more power. You can check out the other models here.
The large sunroof was a nice feature that I enjoyed, especially since it was in the 80s and 90s while we had it. And the night lights around the sunroof was a cool feature that we enjoyed.
The adjustable headlight feature was very unique and one that I’ve never seen before. A nice touch when you have the vehicle fully loaded.
What would you say if I told you that you could get a nice massage while you were driving on a long trip?
If you’re driving the Cadillac Escalade Platinum, then you can do just that! The SUV has three different massage modes for the drivers seat and even offers the front passenger a massage as well!
We drove the Platinum from New Jersey to Ohio and it was one of the most comfortable trips I’ve ever made. The engine produces 420 Horse Power and rides very comfortably in spite of having all that performance!
To say that the Escalade platinum has all the options would not be an understatement. Just watch my video below for a quick review of the vehicle.
Cadillac has always had a reputation for making quality luxury vehicles and this is no exception. The lights at night, the automatic power retractable assist steps, the 16 speaker Bose sound system and the 4 year 50K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty ensure that you’ll be driving in safety for a long time!
My son loved the WiFi feature that comes with the new GM vehicles, as he was using his laptop during our trip. (Yes, he got tired of watching the DVDs and used his laptop!)
Here’s a link to the MSRP sticker for those who are interested in viewing it.

My wife does blogging and through some of the groups she belongs to, she has the privilege of getting vehicles from different manufacturers for review. So I thought it would be a nice idea to do a review of these cars from a man’s perspective! You Dads like cars right?
The first review I’d like to share with you is my review of the 2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen TSI. We had the car for 7 days and took a few long drives up to New York City with it. The car drove very well and handled great!
I liked the panoramic sunroof which was almost twice the size of a regular sunroof and it tilted and opened for some sunny fresh air driving.
Want to see all the options on the vehicle? Alrighty, here is a pdf of the car’s actual MSRP sticker – Just click here: 2015 VW Golf SportWagen TSI
Below is my video review of the car:
So if you like the room and storage you get from a station wagon and you also like performance in your vehicle, I’d suggest you check out the 2015 VW Golf SportWagen TSI. The turbo-charged engine will keep the performance part of you happy!
