We received a new Samsung Washer and Dryer from Best Buy and my wife wanted to place the machines in our back bathroom. This would require running water supplies and running a new drain and vent as well as running a 240 volt line for the dryer. All things i can do and have done in the past.
So why is this funny? Because 12 years ago, my wife decided we should remove the washer and dryer from the very same bathroom and place them in the basement! So yes, I removed the plumbing and drain and had new plumbing put in the basement to accommodate the moving of the laundry machines.
Fortunately, I disconnected and left the 240 line in the 2.5 ft. high crawl space so it only required fishing up through the wall and installing a new outlet box and receptacle and then reconnecting it at the service box. (I had a suspicion about my wife’s moving the machines into the basement! 😉 )
So I thought I’d share the job with you all and let you see the “fun” I had doing it!
Stage 1 – Cut the sheet rock and plan where the new pipes would run. Done
Stage 2 – Install the water supply lines and test – Done
Stage 3 – Install Drain and vent and test (This required lots of time in and out of that very small crawl space!) – Done
Stage 4 – Run 240 volt line and install receptacle (More crawl space work.) – Done
Stage 5 – Cut whole in siding where old dryer vent was and install new vent pipe – Done
Here’s the picture up to this point:
Stage 6 – Install insulation and put new sheet rock in place – Done
Stage 7 – Spackle sheet rock and prepare to paint – Done
And here’s the picture for the project up to this point:
Stage 8 – Change standard electrical outlet to GFCI outlet and paint new sheet rock – Done
Stage 9 – Install new washer and dryer – Done – Yay!
So what projects are you currently working on? Care to share?
What would you say if I told you that you could get a nice massage while you were driving on a long trip?
If you’re driving the Cadillac Escalade Platinum, then you can do just that! The SUV has three different massage modes for the drivers seat and even offers the front passenger a massage as well!
We drove the Platinum from New Jersey to Ohio and it was one of the most comfortable trips I’ve ever made. The engine produces 420 Horse Power and rides very comfortably in spite of having all that performance!
To say that the Escalade platinum has all the options would not be an understatement. Just watch my video below for a quick review of the vehicle.
Cadillac has always had a reputation for making quality luxury vehicles and this is no exception. The lights at night, the automatic power retractable assist steps, the 16 speaker Bose sound system and the 4 year 50K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty ensure that you’ll be driving in safety for a long time!
My son loved the WiFi feature that comes with the new GM vehicles, as he was using his laptop during our trip. (Yes, he got tired of watching the DVDs and used his laptop!)
Here’s a link to the MSRP sticker for those who are interested in viewing it.
If you’re ready for the top-of-the-line SUV and the best massage you can get while driving, go check out the Cadillac Escalade Platinum today.
This past Saturday, the family headed to the Point Pleasant Beach and visited Jenkinsons Boardwalk. The weather was a little cool for swimming, but there were some folks on the beach and in the water.
However, the weather was perfect for enjoying the amusements at Jenkinsons!
My son had such a good time, he even wrote a blog post about it! You can read his post by clicking here.
My wife has been designated an ambassador for Jenkinsons, so they treated us to lunch and we were able to ride the amusements for free. How cool! We met up with a friend of my wife’s who also had some children and spent a very enjoyable afternoon.
The kids loved going on all the rides.
And as you can see, Mom had some fun on the rides as well!
This was the first time I’d ever been to Point Pleasant Beach, but I had a great time and look forward to going back in the near future.
So if you’re in the area or if you’re planning a trip to the beach, I highly recommend checking out Jenkinsons at Point Pleasant Beach!
Have you bought your mother and/or your wife a card and present yet?
My mother passed away back in 2003, just before my younger son was born, so that leaves me with only my wife to buy a gift for. (My wife’s mother lives in Brasil, so there’s not a lot to do for her unfortunately.)
Last week my wife started asking me if I had bought her card yet! Really? Sometimes I think she forgets that I’m a man and that we men think differently than women do! 😉
So while shopping the other day, I noticed she was eye-ing up a fountain for her office and her “feng shui-ing”. (I know it’s not a verb, but in our house we use it as a verb!) So being the great opportunist that I and most men are, I asked her if she’d like that for Mother’s Day. She said yes, and I was all done shopping! Woohoo!
Now to get her card tomorrow and take her out for dinner on Sunday (to a local Rodizio) and the celebration will be complete.
So all of you Dads out there … what are YOU giving your mother and wife for her special day?
So often I get caught up in the business of life that I forget just what the most important things are! Have you ever been there? I’m guessing that’s why there are holidays like Valentine’s Day; to allow us to take a break from our usual routines and reflect on the truly important things in our lives.
As I reflect on what’s truly important, I have to say that love is definitely one of the most important things in my life. I’m not a gushy romantic type of guy, just ask my wife! 🙂 But I do love her and my sons and consider them all a gift from God.
My wife and I met through the Internet and got to know each other through computer chatting and phone calls and messenger programs. Being a computer geek, I was able to hep her get a microphone and set it up so that we could talk via the computer and save money by not using the phone line.
After visiting each other a few times, our love for each other grew and she moved to the USA from Brasil (that’s how they spell it!) and we got married shortly thereafter. The advantage of an online relationship in my opinion is that you actually get to know the other person, without having all the physical distractions. We shared what we liked and didn’t like and talked about important things that were happening in our lives and over the course of more than 2 years, we got to know each other very well.
I can tell you that when we finally did meet in person, I was pleasantly surprised at how pretty she was. And she still is! We’ll be married for 12 years this April and the time flies by, but she’s as nice and as beautiful as the day I met her.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures of her.
She is my wife, so I don’t need to ask her to be my Valentine! 😉 But I will ask anyway, just to hear her say “yes”!
If you haven’t guessed, the answer as to why I love Valentine’s Day is that I get to tell my wife that not only do I love her, but I’m so glad she’s my Valentine!
So no matter what you do to celebrate the day or whatever gift you may give, remember to tell your Valentine that you love them.
And a Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!
